The AFC standings are in flux after some big Week 8 results.

The Buffalo Bills didn’t just wallop the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8, they got a lot of help in the AFC Playoff Picture.

Ahead of the Bills, the Baltimore Ravens lost though the Houston Texans were able to pull out a victory. The Pittsburgh Steelers won on Monday Night Football to keep pace and the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly beat the Las Vegas Raiders.

In the AFC East, CHAOS! The New England Patriots summoned up their grit and put down the New York Jets despite losing QB Drake Maye to a concussion. The jets are 0-3 since firing Robert Saleh as head coach.

We’ll keep updating this until the end of Week 8.

AFC East standings after Week 8

In the AFC East, CHAOS! The New England Patriots summoned up their grit and put down the New York Jets despite losing QB Drake Maye to a concussion. The Jets are 0-3 since firing Robert Saleh as head coach and are in last place in the division.

1. Buffalo Bills (6-2)
2. Miami Dolphins (2-5)
3. New England Patriots (2-6, win over NYJ)
4. New York Jets (2-6, loss to NE)

The Buffalo Bills have a 3.5-game lead in the AFC East plus tiebreaker wins over both the Dolphins and Jets. It’s not over, but it’s a commanding lead for Buffalo.

AFC standings during Week 8

The three-way tie for second in the AFC comes down to conference record tiebreaker, with the Houston Texans undefeated in the AFC. The Steelers are 4-1 while Buffalo is 4-2, so that’s the order among the division leaders behind KC.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (7-0)
2. Houston Texans (6-2, 5-0 AFC)
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2, 4-1 AFC)
4. Buffalo Bills (6-2, loss to HOU)
5. Baltimore Ravens (5-3, 2-2 AFC)
6. Denver Broncos (5-3, 2-3 AFC)
7. Los Angeles Chargers (4-3)
8. Indianapolis Colts (4-4)
9. Cincinnati Bengals (3-5)
10. Miami Dolphins (2-5)
11. Cleveland Browns (2-6, 2-2 AFC)
12. Las Vegas Raiders (2-6, 2-4 AFC, .438 strength of victory)
13. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-6, 2-4 AFC, win over NEP)
14. New England Patriots (2-6, win over NYJ, 2-4 AFC, loss to JAX)
15. New York Jets (2-6, loss to NE, 2-3 AFC)
16. Tennessee Titans (1-6)

AFC playoff picture in Week 9

Those Houston Texans play the New York Jets on Thursday night, so we are hoping for a Jets win on Halloween. The Bills can continue their winning ways in the AFC East by sweeping the Dolphins on Sunday in the early window. The Baltimore Ravens host the Denver Broncos with both teams in playoff position tied at 5-3. The Chiefs don’t play until Monday night, hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
