ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — After the bitter cold and on-and-off snow that has taken hold of Western New York this week, Bills fan are in for a treat in terms of a much quieter forecast for Sunday’s playoff game. A warm up is expected heading into the weekend – that is, if you consider getting out of the teens a warm up.
Pregame/tailgating forecast
Heading to the game, Bills fan should expect relatively quiet conditions right off the get go, other than the snow that will have fallen the day before.
Temperatures will start off on the colder side in the lower 20s and continue to steadily climb throughout the day Sunday. Hats, gloves and boots along with multiple layers will still be necessary. A stray flurry to a dusting is possible, but a mostly cloudy set up with a few breaks in the clouds should be expected for the tailgate.
Winds will be light and not much of a factor, coming out of the west around 3-5 mph.
In-game forecast
As the Bills enter the stadium for the much-anticipated game, conditions for the most part will remain calm. Temperature at kickoff is expected to about 29 degrees with winds light out of the west, around 3-5 mph.
Isolated snow flurries to a dusting throughout the game can’t be ruled out, due to a weak lake effect snow band that will continue to push north and weaken throughout the day.
Other than that, mostly cloudy skies will continue with a few odd breaks of sun also possible. Winds will continue to be light out of the west, around 4-7 mph, eventually switching to out of the southwest later on.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 20s to lower 30s. It’s not much, but it’s more comfortable than normal conditions for this time of year.
Postgame/drive home
Heading home after the game, temperatures will start to tail off into the lower to mid 20s. Winds will continue to be light out of the southwest around 3-6 mph. Mostly cloudy skies will continue to be in place with scattered flurries, especially heading north of the stadium.
As always Bills Mafia, be safe, enjoy the game and stay warm. Make sure to bring your hats, gloves, and boots.
