ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cornerback Christian Benford sustained a concussion during the Bills’ divisional playoff victory against the Ravens on Sunday night, and safety Taylor Rapp is day to day with a hip injury that forced him out of the game in the second quarter, coach Sean McDermott said Monday.
Benford got hurt on a hit he took from Baltimore’s Kristian Welch before Buffalo’s Rasul Douglas recovered the Ravens’ onside kick attempt late in the game. Watch video of the play here.
Rapp, who had an interception in the first quarter of Sunday’s win, got injured when he collided with teammate Damar Hamlin while trying to tackle Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
The Bills entered the divisional round with no significant injuries. Running back Ray Davis played after being cleared from the NFL concussion protocol following a helmet to helmet that knocked the rookie out of the wild-card playoff win against the Denver Broncos. Reserve offensive lineman Alec Anderson was active after being limited in practice with a calf injury, and kick returner Brandon Codrington was inactive but did not have an injury designation after missing the playoff opener with a hamstring injury.
Middle linebacker Terrel Bernard and defensive back Taron Johnson returned to action shortly after receiving attention from trainers Sunday night.
Buffalo travels to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game this Sunday.
