The Buffalo Bills suffered another gutting playoff elimination following Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Tyler Bass played an unfortunate part in the defeat.
With less than two minutes remaining, Bass missed a potential game-tying field goal from 44 yards. Bills fans heard two painful words that conjured more unpleasant memories: wide right.
KICK IS NO GOOD.

After the game, Bass appeared to delete his social media accounts. Both his X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram pages are no longer available.
Before deactivating his accounts, Bass spoke to reporters about the costly moment.
“I’ve got to do a better job of playing it a little bit more left when you have a left-to-right [wind]. I’ve been here long enough to know that you have to do that,” Bass said, per ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg. “You know, I was trusting my line that I had in warmups. Hit a good ball, but it didn’t work out. I feel terrible, you know?Â
“I love this team and it hurts. This one hurts bad. Yeah, I’ve got to do a better job. Totally on me.”
Bass converted 24 of 29 field goal tries during his fourth season in Buffalo before a rough postseason. He missed two field goals — a block and his first career miss within 30 yards — during a 31-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers before Sunday’s untimely mishap.
Yet even if Bass made the field goal, the Bills would have given Patrick Mahomes the ball with 1:43 left to break the tie. Josh Allen made sure nobody blamed Bass for the loss.
“I wish [Bass] wouldn’t have been put in that situation,” Allen said. “You win as a team, you lose as a team. One play doesn’t define a game. It doesn’t define a season. I know people are going to be out there saying that. We got to be there for him because again, we execute a couple of plays prior, probably singing a different tune right now.”
Kansas City has now knocked out Buffalo in three of the past four postseasons. The Bills haven’t won the AFC since losing their fourth straight Super Bowl 30 years ago.
