The big trade that sent wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans has not sat well with a good number of Buffalo Bills fans. As it turns out, it’s been hard on some of the players too.
Appearing on The Jim Rome Show, Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins lamented the Diggs trade, though admitted that he’s gotten used to seeing things like that happen ever since the LeSean McCoy trade many years ago. But he made it clear that he has faith that quarterback Josh Allen has the tools to get the job done and get the team where they need to go.
“But we got 17, and when you got Josh, you know… anything is possible,” Dawkins said.
When asked about the recent controversy with Diggs liking a post that was critical of the fanbase, he said that fans are allowed to feel however they want to feel. Though he seemed to think that Diggs might have hit “like” on the post accidentally.
Diggs is not a player who the Bills can easily replace though. Players who can go several years in a row with over 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards don’t exactly grow on trees (contrary to what some believe).
Maybe the Bills can find someone on their roster, in the next wave of free agency or even in the draft who can give them what Diggs had been giving them for the last four years.
But it really feels like the Bills’ Super Bowl wind has closed a little, if not all the way.
