BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo Bills reserve offensive tackle Tommy Doyle announced his retirement Friday.
Doyle, 26, entered the league as a fifth-round pick of the Bills in 2021 but dealt with a series of serious injuries during his time as a Bill. In his second season, he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3. The following preseason, he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. He was placed on the reserve/PUP list in June 2024, which prematurely ended his 2024 campaign.
Doyle told the team’s website that his most recent injury has caused career-ending nerve damage.
“At this point, with the calendar and the healing process, it looks as though it’s permanent,” Doyle told the team’s website. “I’m just unable to play football at a high level, and it’s time. When you know, you know.”
Doyle’s best moment as a Bill came in the team’s blowout wild-card win over the New England Patriots in January 2022; he caught a one-yard touchdown from Josh Allen in the fourth quarter. Buffalo went on to win 47-17.
Doyle was a standout performer in college at Miami University (Ohio), where he was a two-time first-team All-MAC selection.
