Allen’s making sure his name is written on all the pages in the Bills’ record books
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen just used his legs to score another touchdown — something he has now done 57 times — and move into a tie with Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson at second place for the most rushing touchdowns scored in a Bills uniform.

Allen has moved into the second-place tie in the Bills’ record books in his seventh season in the NFL. For Simpson, who was drafted by Buffalo in 1969, it took nine seasons to amass 57 touchdowns.
Another Hall of Fame running back sits ahead of Allen and Simpson on the Bills’ all-time rushing touchdown list. Thurman Thomas, who played for the Bills for 12 years after being drafted by Buffalo in 1988, scored 65 rushing touchdowns. With just eight touchdowns separating Allen and Thomas, it’s a record that is likely to change hands before the end of 2025.
Allen has scored no less than 6 touchdowns in any season and has scored 8 or more in four of his previous 6 seasons. Last season, the Bills’ quarterback used his legs to find the end zone 15 times. In comparison, Simpson had his best year scoring rushing for 16 touchdowns in 1975 – his seventh season in Buffalo.
Allen’s 57th career rushing touchdown is only his fourth of the season, but with just X games played, Allen is on track to have another 8 TD season. If that holds true, he would enter the 2025 season needing just four more touchdowns to catch Thomas.
Not all of Allen’s rushing touchdowns came in the form of a quarterback sneak. In fact, he since 2021, the Bills’ quarterback has scored 6 touchdowns from outside the 10-yard line. No other quarterback, and only seven running backs, have more from that distance in the past three seasons.

In fact, Allen has very few goal line touchdowns during the same time frame. He didn’t even make the NFL leaderboard for touchdowns scored from the 1-yard line.

While postseason stats don’t count, Allen did run for more than half the field to score in the Bills’ wild-card weekend win over the Pittsburgh Steelers as a testament to his ability to score from anywhere.
Now that the #NFL season is officially over, what’s your #Bills play of the season?
