Who’s in and who’s out for this AFC East matchup?
The Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots are set to kick off in 90 minutes or so, which means that each team has made its inactive list official. No players came into play ruled out by the Bills, but they did have two practice squad elevations in wideout Jalen Virgil and safety Kareem Jackson. The Patriots ruled out cornerback Marcus Jones, one of our five players to watch this week, as well as running back JaMycal Hasty.
Which players are in this week and which players are sitting for the first Bills-Patriots clash of the season? Here’s the whole list.
WR Curtis Samuel
The veteran appeared on the injury report with a rib injury this week, and his absence was foreshadowed by the team calling up Virgil from the practice squad.
T Tylan Grable
While Grable had been the active swing tackle prior to going on injured reserve earlier this year, he’s not going to be active in his first game off the injured list. Ryan Van Demark, who started one game in place of Spencer Brown, is active. Brown, who was on the injury report with a neck injury, is active.
DT DeWayne Carter
The rookie had been playing well prior to an IR stint, but he’s a healthy scratch today. Jordan Phillips, who had been the healthy scratch each of the last two games, is active. He’ll rotate in as a reserve along with Austin Johnson and Quinton Jefferson. DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver will start.
LB Matt Milano
The veteran injured his groin last week, and he’s out today. Milano has started all three games since returning from injured reserve, but it will likely be Dorian Williams back in the lineup today. Williams (elbow) and Baylon Spector (calf) are both active even though they were listed as questionable coming into the game.
CB Rasul Douglas
For the second straight week, the veteran corner will sit thanks to a knee issue. Kaiir Elam will likely start once again in his place, with Ja’Marcus Ingram serving as the top corner reserve both in the slot and outside.
S Damar Hamlin
Hamlin is also out for the second-straight week, which was foreshadowed by the team elevating Jackson for the second straight game. It’s likely that Cole Bishop will start in his place.
S Taylor Rapp
Rapp is also out for the second straight game. Cam Lewis is likely to start in his place, meaning that only Christian Benford and Taron Johnson remain as the team’s normal starters in the defensive secondary.
