Who’s in and who’s out for this week’s big divisional matchup
The Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins are set to kick off in around 90 minutes, which means that the inactive lists are now official. Buffalo had activated edge rusher Von Miller to put 53 players back on their roster, and they also elevated two players from the practice squad, so they had to declare seven inactive players this morning.
We already knew one of those players, as head coach Sean McDermott ruled one player out on Friday. And now, we know the other six players who will join that one inactive.
Who’s in and who’s out for this week’s matchup with Miami? Here are the inactive players for today’s game.
FB Reggie Gilliam
Sledge popped up on the injury report on Wednesday with a hip issue, practicing in limited fashion. He did not practice on Thursday or Friday, and Sean McDermott ruled him out for the game. Gilliam has only played on 40 offensive snaps this year, but he appeared on a season-high nine last week. Will the Bills play a tight end at fullback, or just go without one? Gilliam will be harder to replace on special teams, where he’s played a team-high 178 snaps.
WR Amari Cooper
On the positive front, Curtis Samuel is back. On the negative front, Buffalo’s newest edition is out thanks to a wrist injury. Jalen Virgil is up from the practice squad once again.
OL Will Clapp
The veteran is a healthy scratch once again, as the Bills will roll with Ryan Van Demark as the swing tackle, Alec Anderson as the sixth offensive lineman-slash-top interior reserve, and Sedrick Van Pran-Granger as the eighth active big man up front.
DT Zion Logue
Once again, the Bills activated Eli Ankou from the practice squad, and once again, they’ve chosen to play Ankou in the game rather than Logue, whom they signed off the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad last month. Ankou and Austin Johnson will rotate with DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver in the middle.
LB Nicholas Morrow
This is a bit of a surprise, as the veteran is inactive rather than Joe Andreessen. Baylon Spector is also active, but more importantly, starter Terrel Bernard is back alongside Dorian Williams.
CB Christian Benford
This hurts, as Buffalo’s top corner will miss the game due to injury. Kaiir Elam is likely to start in his place, with Ja’Marcus Ingram the first man in if another injury occurs.
S Mike Edwards
The veteran reportedly wants to be traded somewhere he can play, but for now, he remains on Buffalo’s 53-man roster as a healthy scratch on game day.
