Bass was a perfect 5-for-5 and the Bills won by 2.
It’s been a roller coaster year for Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass, but during Sunday’s divisional round win he was the (almost) unnoticed hero.
Bass converted all three of his extra-point attempts and both of his field goals. The Bills won by two points, so had Bass not been perfect, there is the possibility they could be cleaning out lockers and doing exit interviews instead of game planning for the Kansas City Chiefs right now.
Had the Baltimore Ravens not needed a two-point conversion to tie, if Bass had missed just one of his extra points — something he did five times this season giving him the lowest conversion percentage (92.2) of his career — the Bills would have needed another drive to win. Instead, Bass was the quiet hero.
While Bass hit his lowest XPCT of his career, he also had the second lowest field-goal percentage of his career (82.8) missing five of those as well. But there were times when Bass was the hero too — and not as quietly as Sunday night. Back in November, Bass hit a 61-yard field goal to lift the Bills 30-27 over the Miami Dolphins.
In Sunday night’s 27-25 win over the Baltimore Ravens, a win that has sent the Bills to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since 2021, Bass nailed a 51-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. The kick was just the second in NFL history to be kicked from more than 50 yards in Buffalo during the postseason. The other first kick? That was Tyler Bass too. During his rookie season, Bass hit a 54-yard field goal as the Bills beat the Indianapolis Colts during Super Wild Card Weekend.
Tyler Bass showed it was never to late to redeem yourself last Sunday
Fun fact: in NFL Playoffs history, there have only been 2 field goals made from 50+ in Buffalo and both were made by Tyler Bass!!! pic.twitter.com/ADNHtJm9sb
