Once again, Josh Allen was told his body of work wasn’t good enough to earn top honors
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named to the 2024 Associated Press NFL second-team All-Pro roster, following a regular-season campaign where the Bills claimed the AFC East a fifth-straight time with a blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. Allen’s season also saw him claim AFC Player of the Week honors twice and AFC Player of the Month honors once — all without wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Incredibly, Allen was the only Bills player voted second-team All-Pro. That means players such as cornerback Christian Benford, running back James Cook, nickel cornerback Taron Johnson, left tackle Dion Dawkins, and the rest of Buffalo’s starting offensive line were left off of both teams. So, again, while some of Buffalo’s players received votes, none found their seasons worthy of inclusion in the final rosters when accounting for final tallies.
Per an article with the Associated Press, just five Bills (including Josh Allen) received votes of any kind among AP voters. As noted by the AP, “first-place votes in parentheses are worth three points, second-place votes worth one.” Four players on Buffalo’s roster received first-place votes. Allen led the way with 18 first-place votes, followed by left tackle Dion Dawkins (5), long snapper Reid Ferguson (2), and cornerback Christian Benford (1).

- Quarterbacks: Josh Allen, Buffalo 78 (18) (named second-team All-Pro QB)
- Left Tackles: Dion Dawkins, Buffalo, 26 (5)
Defense
- Cornerbacks: Christian Benford, Buffalo, 12 (1)
- Slot Cornerbacks: Taron Johnson, Buffalo, 1
Special Teams
- Long Snappers: Reid Ferguson, Buffalo, 6 (2)
One more All-Pro note, looks like I was the only Christian Benford first-place vote. Think I was right though! #BillsMafia https://t.co/hp5D6SAiLB

As noted in another article here on Buffalo Rumblings, the Bills find themselves pretty far down the list of teams with players selected All-Pro this season. At the top of that list are the Baltimore Ravens with six players selected All-Pro. Buffalo claims just Allen and finish in ninth out of the 14-team playoff list. Important to remember is the fact that it’s been 20-plus years since the NFL MVP wasn’t first-team All-Pro.

So just how bad is the snub handed to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills?

Followed up with James Cook today to see if he had any thoughts on Josh Allen not being named First Team All-Pro: “Bullshitt.”
