Sixteen. Cook has scored sixteen rushing touchdowns this season!
James Cook just scored his 16th rushing touchdown of the season, and now his name is at the top of the Buffalo Bills’ record books.

Just one week ago, we told you that the third-year running back had tied quarterback Josh Allen for the franchise’s second-most rushing touchdowns in a season. Now he has added another and has put his name alongside Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson.

Yes, we know, there were only 14 games in 1975 and it took Cook 17 weeks to break the record (because, don’t forget the Bills had a bye at Week 12). But we also know that the 2024 NFL is defined by quarterbacks.
Plus, Cook was able to do this in just his third season as a pro (and only his second as a starter) while it took Simpson six seasons to build up enough steam to rush for his 16 touchdowns. Simpson was a veteran; Cook is still on his rookie contract. There’s much more to come for the third-year running back out of Georgia who has found a welcome home in Buffalo.
One more touchdown in the next quarter and a half of play and Cook’s name will stand alone.
The countdown to one has started.
