Bills-Broncos likely to help kick off Super Wild Card Weekend
The Buffalo Bills have turned their attention to the NFL playoffs, now preparing to welcome the seven-seeded Denver Broncos for a Super Wild Card Weekend showdown at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.
The kickoff time and date for Bills-Broncos has yet to be finalized, with that news coming at the conclusion of Minnesota Vikings-Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football.
The last time these two teams met still lives rent free with many in Bills Mafia — a home game for Buffalo where Denver found victory in a mulligan courtesy of the Bills’ special teams unit, which had too many men on the field during a missed field goal. That game also marked a line in the sand for head coach Sean McDermott, who showed then-offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey the door, handing interim duties over to then-quarterbacks coach Joe Brady.
Overall, these are vastly different teams than the ones that met last November. Buffalo’s receiver room and defensive makeup feature plenty of new faces starting, while Denver turned things over to rookie quarterback Bo Nix after parting ways with quarterback Russell Wilson.
Since that fateful meeting last season, Brady has remained and in control of a productive and efficient offense led by quarterback Josh Allen and his MVP-level play. Brady has just completed his first season as the offensive coordinator and play caller with One Bills Drive. Given that his ascension came after the Week 9 loss in 2023, the Broncos have not faced off against Brady and his scheme.
Will that favor the Bills beyond just their home-field advantage? If Bills Mafia has its way, there’ll be plenty to sing about but none of it will include Mr. Brightside yelling about any sort of Rocky Mountain High.
