Observations, analysis, report cards and recaps from Buffalo’s third straight victory
The Buffalo Bills (6-2) got off to a fast start and thoroughly dominated the host Seattle Seahawks (4-4) in every aspect during a 31-10 shellacking Sunday afternoon.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks offers up observations and analysis from Buffalo’s third straight win as the Bills picked up an impressive road victory over a fellow first-place squad.
Observations and analysis from Bills’ win
Buffalo amassed a season-high 445 yards of offense as wide receiver Khalil Shakir posted his first 100-yard receiving game of the year, running back James Cook recorded his first 100-yard rushing output this year, wide receiver Keon Coleman enjoyed a breakthrough performance, the Bills’ offensive line had their way with Seattle’s defensive front, and quarterback Josh Allen was efficient in passing for 284 yards (24-of-34 passing) with two touchdowns and his first interception of the season.
Defensively, defensive end Greg Rousseau was consistently in the Seattle backfield, Buffalo’s run defense held the Seahawks to one rushing yard in the first half, linebackers Dorian Williams and Baylon Spector were spectacular, and the secondary — led by cornerbacks Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford — completely neutralized the Seahawks’ playmakers as Buffalo’s defense was simply suffocating.
It was a thoroughly dominant road win for Buffalo, which extended its lead in the AFC East to 3.5 games after eclipsing 31 points in a game for the fifth time in eight games.
Among the only negatives: Allen saw his franchise-record streak of passes without an interception end at 300 and penalties were once again a problem, as Buffalo committed 13 penalties for 85 yards.
