Plus, nickel CB Taron Johnson is honored by the AFC after a huge performance in Indy
The Buffalo Bills (8-2) are preparing for a huge showdown with the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (10-0) Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium, and in today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks, we lead off by discussing the status of several injured Buffalo Bills, including two key offensive starters: Right tackle Spencer Brown and tight end Dalton Kincaid.
Mid-week injury updates
Starting right tackle Spencer Brown (ankle) and starting tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) suffered injuries during the Bills’ 30-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, and as Buffalo gets ready to take on Kansas City, both Brown and Kincaid’s injuries kept them sidelined during Wednesday’s practice session.
Brown injured his ankle in the fourth quarter, missed eight plays and then was back on the field as the Bills finished off their fifth straight victory, while Kincaid injured his knee in the second quarter, left the contest for a bit, returned in the third quarter and then was forced to leave the game with his ailment.
Besides Brown and Kincaid, wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) was a non-participant in Wednesday’s practice, while WR Amari Cooper (wrist) and LB Matt Milano (biceps) were each limited practice participants. Head coach Sean McDermott has already ruled Coleman out for the Chiefs game, though the Bills haven’t placed the rookie on injured reserve.

CB Taron Johnson named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Nickel CB Taron Johnson played a pivotal role in Buffalo’s road win over Indianapolis, including picking off a Joe Flacco pass and returning it for a touchdown on Indy’s first offensive play of the game, and on Wednesday, Johnson was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week. Johnson’s INT was the first time since the 2013 season that Buffalo recorded a pick-six on an opponent’s opening drive, and was the first time since 1991 that the Bills had a pick-six on their opponent’s first offensive play of the game.
Johnson also recorded a sack, becoming the first Bills DB and the fifth defensive player in franchise history to record both a pick-six and a sack in the same game, and finished with the pick-six, a sack, two pass breakups and three total tackles in the win.
