Plus, the Bills bring back a pivotal member of their offensive line.
Running back James Cook is under contract with the Buffalo Bills through the 2025 NFL season, and following a 2024 campaign where he eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards and tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns (16), Cook was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl.
But earlier this week, Cook took to Instagram to publicly lobby for a new contract at $15 million per season, which would rank second in the NFL in terms of annual salary behind only Christian McCaffrey at $19 million per season.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by examining Cook’s case to receive a massive payday with the Bills.
RB James Cook reveals goals for a contract extension
Buffalo Bills running back James Cook wants a contract extension, and he is sharing that information publicly, making his case to become the league’s second-highest-paid running back.
The problem for Cook is that every one of the top five highest-paid backs is an every-down back, while Cook played just 48% of the Bills’ snaps this year.
We discuss whether Cook is worth that much money, whether the Bills would be wise to dole out that kind of contract for a running back, and why general manager Brandon Beane and the Bills are facing a difficult decision when it comes to keeping their talented RB happy.
