After being bounced in the Divisional Round of the playoffs for the third year in a row, the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen have lost a lot of confidence from NFL fans and analysts in their ability to reach the Super Bowl.
But Colin Cowherd believes that the criticism of Allen in particular has gone too far.
On Tuesday’s edition of The Herd, the Fox Sports analyst said that he’s done with seeing people criticize Allen purely over his postseason struggles. He declared that the criticism is “silly” and that the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback is underrated more than anything else.
“I’ll die on this hill: Josh Allen, to this point, the criticism is silly. He’s underrated,” Cowherd declared.
Over the past three years Allen has been among the best players in the league not named either Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers.
He’s had four straight seasons of over 4,200 passing yards and 29 touchdowns, making two Pro Bowls, an All-Pro team and finishing top six in both the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year voting three times.
But in the postseason Allen has simply had the misfortune of running into either the best quarterbacks or the most complete rosters that the NFL has to offer.
“Overrated” seems like a nearly impossible case to make for Allen.
