The Buffalo Bills caught a stray during an NHL press conference today.
Speaking to the media ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup, Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch was asked how it felt to for the team to be in the Stanley Cup against a team that has a lot more experience in the tournament than he does. But Knoblauch wasn’t scared of the Florida Panthers just because they have more recent experience.
That was when he decided to toss some shade the Bills’ way on their Super Bowl failures:
“You can ask the Buffalo Bills how important Super Bowl experience is,” Knoblauch said.
Ouch.
The Buffalo Bills infamously lost four straight Super Bowls between 1990 and 1993, with their most heartbreaking loss coming on a missed field goal in Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants. They would lose to the Washington Redskins the following year and back-to-back to the Dallas Cowboys the years after that.
Buffalo have not been to the Super Bowl since and have never won one.
The Oilers, on the other hand, have a more storied history, having won five Stanley Cups between 1984 and 1990 and reaching two more since then.
Maybe the Panthers will have better luck than the Bills did.
