Buffalo Bills defenders Rasul Douglas and Taron Johnson were named among the top-32 cornerbacks in the NFL by Pro Football Focus heading into the 2024 NFL season.
The football analytics outlet went position-by-position this offseason and named the best players in their eyes.
In this ranking, Douglas and Johnson appear together but both play different roles for the Bills. Johnson has been Buffalo’s lockdown cornerback at the nickel position since he was selected in the fourth round at the 2018 NFL draft. Meanwhile, Douglas has seamlessly held down things for the Bills secondary since the team acquired him via trade at the 2023 NFL deadline.
Here’s PFF’s full breakdowns on Douglas and Johnson, followed by the entre 1-32 cornerback rankings:
The Bills traded for Douglas in the middle of the 2023 season, and it did wonders for the defense as it dealt with injuries on the outside in 2023. Douglas’ 82.0 coverage grade ranks 10th among qualifying corners over the last two years, and his nine interceptions put him second at the position over the same period.
Johnson has earned an 82.8 coverage grade over the last two years, eighth in the NFL. He is also another player who prevents separation at a high level, ranking fifth in the advanced metrics. The six-year pro has been vital to the success of the Bills defense for several years.
