The Bills are 8-2 and on the Chiefs’ heels for the one seed
The Buffalo Bills are putting together a really successful 2024 NFL season, much to the delight of fans and the surprise of almost everyone tuned into professional football. That might sound strange when considering the fact that quarterback Josh Allen is still very much the focus at One Bills Drive, but plenty of people wrote this season off due to so much roster turnover that removed a ton of veteran leadership.
If Bills Mafia needed a reminder, here it is: Josh Allen is still going to do Josh Allen things, and we’re all very fortunate to witness it as fans. Go ahead and subtract the best safety tandem in the NFL, part ways with Allen’s long-tenured top two wide receivers (even if WR1 had a Hall of Fame worthy career with him) — it won’t stop QB17. Allen thrives off adversity, and his passion and commitment is as genuine as the core of Bills Mafia’s. When you’re in Bills Country, you’re bound to find a home at the intersection of Allen and Hurdle.
What else? Well, the Bills are 8-2, currently nestled as the two seed behind the undefeated Chiefs — with a chance to dent their armor in Week 11. Furthermore, Buffalo holds a commanding lead in the AFC East, and appears fast-tracked to claiming what would be a franchise-record fifth-straight AFC East title.
In recent weeks, the results of our Reacts survey have proven really favorable. That’s to be expected when fans continuously celebrate wins. Right? Well, the Bills haven’t made winning all that easy some weeks, and they’ve dropped a couple games to AFC playoff hopefuls. Yet Buffalo weathered that storm and currently ride a five-game winning streak. Life is really good in Bills Country. But is it great?
It was last week, ahead of Buffalo’s road game against the Indianapolis Colts. They won that game decidedly, too — though it wasn’t necessarily pretty on offense, nor everywhere on defense.
After tying a season high with 96% of voters confident in the direction of the Bills, we’ve seen a slow march downhill from 89% in Week 10, to now just 78% of fans confident ahead of Buffalo’s Week 11 game.
I’m not at all certain that we have clean data this week, mostly due to what’s been a healthy influx of Chiefs fans on our site. It’s possible that a fair number of votes have come in from outside the fan base. But it’s also possible that fans are hesitant to get too excited just yet. I had plenty of concerns following last week’s win. Stats will take you only so far, and sometimes that trip doesn’t meet up with an all-important eye test.
If you’re not on board yet, or you fell off the wagon, what’s it going to take for you to regain confidence in head coach Sean McDermott and this year’s Buffalo Bills? Whatever’s behind this weeks results, I believe it’s safe to say that our confidence rating will look quite a bit different next week, win or lose.
FanDuel Sportsbook shared data with us concerning who will cover in Bills vs. Chiefs for Week 11. Perhaps boosted by a favorable season-long points total, 60% of money coming in is on Buffalo to cover at -1.5. Do you agree?
NFL fans were asked to power rank the top 10 teams. The Bills made the list, rightfully so. But where did they land? How does fourth, behind the Baltimore Ravens (3rd), Kansas City Chiefs (2nd), and Detroit Lions (1st), sound?
