BUFFALO N.Y. (WIVB) — Kansas City Chiefs fans immediately knew they were in Bills territory upon landing in Buffalo for Sunday’s game. Monica Lewis, who works at Southwest Airlines, made sure of it.
“You see where I’m at. The Kansas City Chiefs fans just landed and we’re going to give them a good old welcome to Buffalo, New York. Bills Mafia, let’s go,” Lewis said in the now viral video posted to social media.
In the video, which can be watched in full below, Lewis grabs her microphone and addresses fans over the intercom.
“Southwest Airlines would like to welcome the Kansas City Chiefs fans arriving to Buffalo, New York, on Southwest Airlines on flight number 3561,” Lewis said.
Lewis then played the Bills “Shout” song through the intercom, but the welcome announcement didn’t end there.
“That was part one,” Lewis said in the video. “Now they about to come get their bags and another announcement and another song.”
Lewis wasn’t able to speak on camera, but she told WIVB News 4 that she wanted to let Chiefs fans know that “the Buffalo Bills have the best fans in the league.”
When asked about how Chiefs fans responded to the announcement, she said some laughed it off while others weren’t so happy about it. She said the majority of fans knew it was all in good fun.
