One of the big stories in the middle of the 2023 season was the Bills’ decision to fire offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey after a 24-22 Week 10 loss to the Broncos after which Buffalo fell to 5-5 on the season.
Quarterbacks coach Joe Brady was promoted to replace Dorsey, and there were some immediate changes to the passing game that reflected on the field, and in the Bills’ record down the stretch. They went 6-1 in the regular season with Brady running the offense, beat the Steelers in the wild-card round, and lost to the Chiefs by three points in the divisional frame — yet another agonizing defeat at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and his guys.
But the die had been cast, and the Bills replaced Brady’s interim tag with a full-time designation, giving him the offseason to install all the things he really wants to do. When I recently spoke with Josh Allen about what Brady brings to the table, Allen wasn’t just excited about that — he also said some things that really revealed how transformational he thinks Brady’s effect will be in 2024 and beyond.
