Boeheim had been the head coach for the last 47 seasons before announcing his retirement. Associate head coach Adrian Autry will now take over for Boeheim moving forward.
Boeheim will finish his coaching career with 1,015 wins, which is second only to former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
The college basketball world had nothing but positive things to say once this became official.

Excellent career for Boeheim, but the time had come. I don’t know that I will ever be more confident in a coach to make the Sweet 16 as a double digit seed than this man. https://t.co/5vJ4ykv4Gu

Boeheim led the Orange to a national title in 2003 along with 35 total NCAA Tournament appearances. He also led the program to the Final Four five times during his coaching career.
Congratulations on a great career, Jim!
