A game for all the people who miss the Big East
It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means… time for the blog that gives you the internet’s most ridiculous college football preview series- it’s #FakeNunes time. Can we keep finding ways to get #jokesandgarbage into a Syracuse Orange preview? You be the judge….
Now onto this week’s opponent
Opponent: Virginia Tech Hokies
Location: Blacksburg, VA
Students: 29,300 students who put their right foot in first
The 2024 Fake Nunes Statistical Index (#FNSI)
We continue to look to innovate our analytics model so we here’s what the lab cooked up for this season.
Rivalry Trophy
The FNSI staff won’t give up on their quest to bring back more tradition into today’s college game. Let’s see what they’ve got for this one
The Leather Lollipop Stick
Yes, that’s right. We’re going to commemorate “Lollipopgate” as the winner will take home a leather wrapped replica of a butterscotch Dum-Dum.
Jersey Boys
Fran Brown wants to reclaim the Garden State so let’s see how the Orange stack up against each opponent.
The Hokies have 2 players from New Jersey, but that’s not even close to the 25 for the Orange.
Advantage: Syracuse
Notable Alum
Bringing back this one as we love to drop, some knowledge every now and then to help our loyal readers possibly win a trivia night. After all we are the Syracuse blog that loves you back and we take that seriously.
Jim Pyne vs Ben Baldanza
Pyne is a former All-American guard for the Hokies but he’s better known as one of the founders of “Wheels Up”, which has likely played a big role in the current recruiting landscape. Baldanza was a former CEO of Spirit Airlines and credited with turning the business around by making it an “ultra-low cost carrier”, or not the type of flight taken by college coaches.
Advantage: Virginia Tech
Head Coach Radio Show Sponsor
Hotel Indigo vs AmeriCU
A hotel is definitely better than a bank.
Advantage: Pitt
Fran Brown Hat Tracker
After last week, the mock vest look can come back but that hat needs to be banished to some back closet at the Lally Center.
The Official #FakeNunes Game Prediction
The tension in the air around the Dome is thick. Surprisingly thicker than the air around the ESF Quad. Orange fans are on edge for this one and when the Hokies get a score after a blocked punt, it’s going to be quiet in the Dome. Then, LeQuint Allen breaks a long run to get the fans back into it. This game is back and forth and ends up in another 3OT classic where Kyron Drones just reaches the pylon on the final two-point conversion.
Final Score: Virginia Tech 53, Syracuse 52
