Upstate New York represent.
It’s time to start preparing for the 2024 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces to kick off the Fran Brown Era.
Next up is…
Name: Kyle Acker
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 174 lbs.
Hometown: Ballston Lake, N.Y.
High School: Shenendehowa / IMG Academy
2023 stats: Played in one game last year (Colgate). Did not record any stats.
2024 projections: Acker finds himself in a similar boat in 2024 as he did in 2023 — playing time will be hard to come by. Syracuse’s current depth at wide receiver makes cracking the rotation tough for Acker, and his overall limited frame reduces his ceiling compared to the rest of the field. After two straight redshirt years, maybe he’ll see some more time early on in the season should the Orange blowout a few teams early in their schedule.
How’d he get here?: After an extra grad year with IMG Academy, Acker joined the Orange in 2021.
What’d recruiting sites say?: No stars on any of the usual major recruiting sites.

Interesting nugget o’interest:
Acker is currently the third member of his family to suit up for a Power 5 football school. His dad, Brad, played football for the Penn State Nittany Lions while his brother suited up for the Northwestern Wildcats.
Let’s get a look at ya: Some footage back from Acker’s time at IMG:
Some highlights from our first game win against FC Tech. Slot receiver and punt returner. Mid-year eligible.
