Everyone’s favorite position at Syracuse sees some stability
It’s time to start preparing for the 2024 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces to kick off the Fran Brown Era
Up next is…
Name: Jack Stonehouse
Position: Punter
Year: Redshirt Junior
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 199 lbs
Hometown: Camarillo, CA
High School: Chaminade
Previous School: Missorui
2023 stats: Played all 13 games with 62 punts, averaging 44.6 yards per punt with 19 going for at least 50 yards and 18 pinned inside the 20.
2024 projections: After the run of Dixon, Hofrichter and Cooney, Syracuse fell into a state of uncertainty with the punter position. Stonehouse’s arrival from Missouri alleviated many of those concerns. His consistency should continue with another season in Central New York.
How’d he get here?: Stonehouse committed to Syracuse 11 days after hitting the transfer portal from Missouri. There were no other reported offers out of the portal for Stonehouse.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Out of high school, Stonehouse was a five-star punter and the No. 7 punter in the 2021 class ranked by Kohl’s Kicking.
Money Quote: You gotta love a guy with good sense of humor. Hopefully his parents feel the same (via Mike McAllister):
“I’m from California and I’m extremely excited,” Stonehouse said. “It’s extremely far away from California. I’m trying to make it as hard as possible for my parents to see a game, I’m sure that’s what they think.”

Interesting nugget o’interest: Stonehouse comes from an athletic family. His father, John, was a punter at USC and for the New York Giants. His mom, Sue, played soccer for UCLA.
