From New York City to the Salt City
It’s time to start preparing for the 2024 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces to kick off the Fran Brown Era
Up next is…
Name: Mark Short
Position: Linebacker
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 235 lbs
Hometown: Rye Brook, NY
High School/Previous College: Blind Brook High School
High School Accolades: Short recorded 12 sacks and 65 tackles during his senior season at Blind Brook High School — awarded for his play on the field, Short received All-League, All-Independent, and Class C/D Defensive Lineman of the Year, in addition to Team MVP honors.
How’d he get here?: Short committed to Syracuse University as an aerospace engineering major and joined the football team later as a walk-on at linebacker.
2024 projections: Like mentioned above, the linebacker is a walk-on and will likely be a scout player on defense during practice, however, nowhere does it say he couldn’t find his way onto special teams.
What’d recruiting sites say?: No ranking on any of the major recruitment outlets.

Interesting nugget o’interest: The village of Rye Brook was incorporated in 1982 which means it’s younger than the JMA Dome.
