A Syracuse quarterback is wearing an unusual number for the Boca Raton Bowl on Thursday night.
Dan Villari, who is usually a tight end, is dressing in his usual No. 89 even though he’s playing quarterback.

Villari is starting in the game against South Florida after starting quarterback Garrett Shrader underwent shoulder surgery, ending his collegiate career.
Coming into this game, Villari had completed all 18 passes that he had thrown this year. Right now (as of this writing), that streak is up to 21 in a row even though Syracuse is down 14-0.
Villari has thrown for 26 yards and has rushed for nine yards through just one quarter of play.
He’s going to try and lean a comeback attempt to give Syracuse its seventh win of the season.
