In one outing last week, Freeman finished with a double-double, including a career-high 23 points to go with 12 rebounds. He hit 8-of-16 from the field and 7-of-7 from the free throw line to go with three assists and one steal. A former five-star prospect, the 6-foot-9 Freeman is Syracuse’s highest ranked recruit since Carmelo Anthony.
Freeman’s Rookie of the Week nomination is the first conference honor for a Syracuse player this season. The last Syracuse player to earn ACC Rookie of the Week honors was Judah Mintz on Feb. 27 during the 2022-23 season.
Freeman is averaging 12.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. A starter through Syracuse’s first six games, he’s averaging 26.0 minutes per contest.
