Syracuse men’s soccer (2-2-1, 0-0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), dropped out of the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll released Tuesday. Two weeks ago, the Orange rose 18 spots to No. 7, but have gone winless in their last three games. It’s the first time SU has been unranked since August 2022.
SU was ranked No. 20 after a tie against Charlotte and a 1-0 loss to Le Moyne on Sept. 2. This weekend, the Orange opened up ACC play with a trip to Boston College. They got off to a strong start against the Eagles with Gabe Threadgold opening up the scoring in less than a minute.
Michael Acquah worked his way down the right side and set up Threadgold for a one-time finish. Just over 20 minutes later, BC responded. Leo Guarino snuck a shot past Tomas Hut to level the game at 1-1.
From there, Syracuse created minimal chances. The Orange recorded just one shot on target in the second half while BC had a flurry of chances late. Hut came up with two crucial saves with just over a minute remaining to finish with a season-high five stops. His late-game heroics secured a point for SU on the road.
