An un(der)rated prospect continues the New Jersey -> ‘Cuse pipeline.
Fran Brown signed his first “under the radar” prospect for the Syracuse Orange on Saturday: 6’3″, 190 lbs. Ibn McDaniels from Elizabeth High in New Jersey.

McDaniels played both sides of the ball in high school but will become part of the Orange secondary. As a senior, he had 34 tackles, three picks, and one defensive touchdown. Those numbers, coupled with 744 receiving yards and eight TDs, earned him NJFCA All-State honors.
Though he went unrated by the Big Four recruiting sites, McDaniels still attracted some attention from major programs. He attended camps at both Penn State and Rutgers last summer, and SU has been looking into him for a while as well. According to a post by his coach, he and several other Elizabeth players attended the season finale against Wake Forest.
Here are Ibn’s senior highlights:
Our estimates have Syracuse up to 88 scholarships for the 2024 season, three over the limit. Expect more two-way traffic in the coming weeks.
