Yes you read that correctly. No we still don’t understand eligibility rules.
The Syracuse Orange have added to their defense ahead of 2025 spring camp – and it’s in the form of a veteran with a year of ACC experience and a whole lot more on top of that.
David Reese, an 8th(!)-year senior who spent the last two seasons with Cal, committed to SU last night:
The 6’2″, 240 lbs. Florida native joins a group that is looking to replace the production of Fadil Diggs (7.5 sacks) in the pass rush. The 27-year-old Reese totaled 11 sacks and five forced fumbles over the past two seasons, with 4.5 and two coming last fall.
The Orange had also added Marshall transfer Chris Thomas Jr. earlier this offseason to help address that need.
Before transferring to Cal, Reese played very sparingly with the Florida Gators. According to his profile, Reese redshirted in 2018, was granted a pair of medical waviers in 2019 and 2021, and did not have 2020 count against his eligibility due to COVID.
