Records are made to be broken and a few very well could be against Miami
As the Syracuse Orange prepare for tomorrow’s final game against the Miami Hurricanes, there are some school records that could fall.
Last week Kyle McCord broke Ryan Nassib’s record for 3,749 passing yards in one season. McCord is at 3.946 yards heading into the final game. McCord also set the Syracuse record for most completions in a season with 304, passing Nassib’s 294 from 2012.
McCord is currently tied for the single-season passing TD’s with Nassib at 26 and barring something disastrous, he should break Eric Dungey’s record for passing yards per game in a season (297.7 in 2016) as McCord sits at 358.7.
McCord’s 26 TD passes put him 9th on the all-time Orange list, he’s two behind Tommy DeVito and six behind Troy Nunes.

Since McCord’s having an outstanding season, his receivers are also making their way up the all-time lists. Oronde Gadsden has already set the Syracuse record for receptions by a tight end (61 in 2022) and his 1,870 career receiving yards are 10th all-time.
LeQuint Allen broke the school record for receptions in a season (55) and career (110) by a running back. Allen is also 10th all-time with 10 career 100-yard rushing games, one behind Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Delone Carter.
It’s not just the offense chasing records, Marlowe Wax’s 43 tackles for loss rank second all-time behind Dwight Freeney’s 50.5. Jack Stonehouse is currently averaging 45.53 yards per kick, which would pass Nolan Cooney’s record of 44.78 set back in 2020.
