Fran brings a big body with him from Athens.
Fran Brown keeps cooking on the recruiting trail, as the new Syracuse Orange head coach has added his fourth new player – and first transfer – for 2024.
Jackson Meeks, a 6’2”, 205 lbs. wide receiver with one year of eligibility remaining, will join SU for his senior season. He’s spent the last three years with the Georgia Bulldogs, including two with Brown on the coaching staff.

Meeks had 10 receptions for 132 yards while on the Dawgs, but his main contributions were on special teams. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart referred to him as a “special teams demon” during a press conference earlier this year.
“Coach Fran and the new OC that he hired, they basically told me that I’d have a lot of opportunities,” Meeks told Mike McAllister. “That’s really all I want, honestly. To have an opportunity to come up there and help the team win.”
Meeks also said that he stuck with Oronde Gadsden during his recent official visit, so it seems the star receiver of the past two years is doing his part to reload the receivers room.
The Phenix City, Alabama native was originally a three-star prospect, with offers from Ole Miss, West Virginia, Liberty, and App State. He did not post any of his other offers while in the transfer portal. He DID, however, repost Mekhi Mews’s SU offer announcement. Mews has two years of eligibility left and is another intriguing target for Brown.
