Cites “late request” as one of the reasons
Well we won’t be getting Fran Brown’s Syracuse Orange squad in Boulder to practice/scrimmage Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes next month.
NEWS: The FBS oversight committee has denied Colorado and Syracuse’s request for spring practice together.
It’s largely due to the late timing, and the topic will be discussed more in the future.

That’s disappointing as the event would have given more attention to a Syracuse program looking to build off last year’s 10-win season. The good news is that it just looks like Brown and Sanders have laid the groundwork for future joint practices to be approved, since it was the late timing cited as the main reason for the opposition to the waiver.
If you look at the response in Chris Vannini’s post above, you’ll see reference to fairness to other schools who have already completed their spring practices. If there’s one thing all of us know, it’s that the NCAA is all about fairness and equity among the member institutions.
Well it’s back to our regularly scheduled spring practice here for the Orange and maybe this idea of a scrimmage will turn into a home and home series between the two schools in the future. We know that Syracuse needs games and a Fran vs Deion matchup would be a ratings hit.
