A stellar season for these players
As the Syracuse Orange await their bowl announcement, we can start to look back at the 2024 season.
Kyle McCord ends the year leading the nation in passing yards with 4,326 yards and passing yards per game (360.5). He had the most passing attempts (558), completions (368) and finished 4th in passing touchdowns (29).
With the prolific passing numbers come a lot of receptions and Trebor Pena finished 12th in the country with his 79 grabs. Jackson Meeks was 22nd with 73 receptions and Oronde Gadsden II was 26th with a nice total of 69. Colorado was the only other school with two players in the top 30.
Meeks (35th at 75.9), Pena (42nd at 72.6) and Gadsden (45th at 71.7) were all also in the top-50 in receiving yards per game this season.
LeQuint Allen’s 17 total touchdowns ranked 22nd in the country in overall scoring. If you take kickers off the list, Allen was 12th in touchdowns scored. The Syracuse standout was 30th in the NCAA in all-purpose yardage averaging 114.8 yards per game.
Some Syracuse defenders ended the regular season among the top 50 in statistical categories. Fadil Diggs was 22nd in the country in tackles for loss with 14 and 29th in sacks with 7.5. Jayden Bellamy’s interception return for a touchdown tied for 6th nationally. Devin Grant forced three fumbles which tied for 10th and Clarence Lewis was 20th in passes defended with 12.
Tomorrow we’ll have a look at where the Orange ranked in team categories.
