Syracuse and Washington State will play on Friday December 27th at 8:00 pm ET at Snapdragon Stadium. The game will air on Fox and will be the first time the bowl has been played at Snapdragon after years at Jack Murphy Stadium and Petco Park.
Washington State scored 36.8 points per game this season and is led by quarterback John Mateer. Mateer threw for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns while also rushing for 826 yards and 15 scores. Depending on who plays in this game, we could be in for another entertaining shoot-out.
The two schools have only played once previously – a 52-25 win for the Orange back in 1979 in a game played at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, NY. This was the season Syracuse didn’t have a home stadium due to construction of the Carrier Dome. Joe Morris led the way with 157 yards rushing and two scores while quarterback Bill Hurley added 107 yards rushing and a touchdown while adding a touchdown pass. The Orange ran for 384 yards in the game, something we probably won’t see in this one.
We’ll have plenty of coverage leading up to the game.
