The Orange might be toast…
The rollercoaster Syracuse Orange football season continues.
This time, SU fell short in a 37-31 loss to Boston College last Saturday. Kyle McCord dominated through the air once again for the Orange, tossing nearly 400 yards with two passing touchdowns. But the Eagles’ countered with 313 rushing yards and hung on for their fifth win of the season.
Let’s see where our weekly Pop-Tart Bowl O’Meter puts Syracuse with three games left in the regular season:
While the Orange are still postseason bound, a Pop-Tart Bowl appearance is on thin ice. To have any shot at a date with the toaster pastry, Syracuse most likely has to win out and finish 9-3. A loss to Cal this weekend will probably relegate SU to either the Fenway or Pinstripe Bowls.
But don’t take it from me; here’s where the “experts” project Syracuse to play in Bowl Season:

Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl vs Wisconsin Badgers – Schlabach
Back to the Bronx, we’ve seen the Badgers pop up a number of times throughout these predictions. Could this be the final verdict?
Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs Tulane Green Wave – Bonagura
Oh boy, this is a big step back from a week ago. Tulane averages nearly 40 points per game, and if Syracuse just gave up 37 to Boston College, we don’t want this matchup.
Brett McMurphy – The Action Network
First Responder Bowl vs Toledo Rockets
McMurphy pivots from the Duke’s Mayo to the FRB in Dallas on January 3. This game has tie-ins with the AAC, ACC, Big 12 and C-USA, so a battle with the Rockets is still very unlikely.
Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl vs Arizona State Sun Devils
Now, I wouldn’t mind this one. We’re back in Texas (El Paso this time), against an ASU team that’s heating up. The Sun Devils have back-to-back games against ranked opponents (No. 20 Kansas State and No. 7 BYU), so we should know much more about them come December.
Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs East Carolina Pirates
Yuck. While it’s great that Syracuse would have a “home” game, I’m not sure fans will drive a few hours to see the Orange play the mighty 5-4 Pirates.
