The CW Part Two: Electric Boogaloo
The Syracuse Orange (6-2, 3-2) head back on the road to face off against the Boston College Eagles (4-4, 1-3). Syracuse is coming off the OT win over Virginia Tech while BC had a bye after blowing a big lead against Louisville two weeks ago.
The game kicks off at Noon on the CW and here’s what we think will happen:
Kevin (6-2): Syracuse 31, Boston College 20
BC wants to control the pace of this game, so if Syracuse can finally get a fast start, they can force the Eagles into passing more than they want. I expect to see a lot of pressure from the Eagles as they try and disrupt the Orange passing attack, but look for LeQuint Allen, Trebor Pena and Oronde Gadsden to all have over 50 yards receiving in this one. I think this one is pretty close, but the Orange get a late touchdown run from Allen to put this away.
Max (5-3): Syracuse 28, Boston College 13
The Eagles will be rested coming off a bye, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to good results (example: Syracuse). On the flip side, the Orange have all the momentum after their win against Virginia Tech, and Allen will carry some of that over with a rushing touchdown in the first half. I think Brown makes the necessary adjustments at the half, and SU uncharacteristically leans on the run in a convincing win.
Mike (5-3): Syracuse 34, Boston College 20
SU has decided that a repeat of last year simply cannot happen. They’re bringing all their weapons to the table now – Emmanuel Ross and Justus Ross-Simmons are settling in alongside the established receiver trio, and Zeed Haynes could even get a few snaps in. Unless the pocket collapses at nauseum, there’s too much here for the BC secondary to handle. The Eagles haven’t put a single 4th quarter point on the board during their three-game skid so if the Orange can keep Castellanos contained early, they’ll be in excellent shape.
Dom (6-2): Syracuse 31, Boston College 24
Syracuse’s offense shouldn’t be a concern after dropping 38 versus Virginia Tech. BC doesn’t boast nearly the same strong defensive line that can put so much pressure on Kyle McCord. With that said, Castellanos might still be a problem for albeit much-improved defense and we saw how the Hokies’ mobile backup fared previously. I think BC gets out to a fast start but loses steam as Syracuse wins by a score.
Carson (4-2): Syracuse 31, Boston College 21
I like Syracuse’s chances in Chestnut Hill. BC’s been on the decline, especially on defense — the Eagles have given up almost 100 points across its last three games (well above its season average: 22.0 points against). I believe the Orange aerial attack proves to be too much for the Eagles, who have not faced a quarterback with the arm talent like that of QB Kyle McCord.
Doug M (0-0): BC 17, Syracuse 13
Sunshine, wind, and some crisp New England air. That’s just football man. This game is going to be about toughness. Real toughness, not some bologna mantra. Tighten your chin strap and find out which team is willing to dig their cleats in and fight through the pain. I’ll ride with my guys….I mean the Eagles in a close, clean game.
