With a cross-country trip this weekend, the team might want to get the job done
Syracuse Orange head coach Fran Brown got some national attention this week. No, he didn’t land another recruit from New Jersey, but he got the media’s attention (in the US and Canada) with this personal revelation.
Today Coach Brown said he waits longer to shower after a loss. “Winners get washed,” he said, serious as a heart attack. pic.twitter.com/cWjv1yMFzL

“There is a process I follow every week. Win, lose, or draw. The only thing is my wife, I can’t sleep in the bed if we lose, because I’m not going to get in the shower for that day. I’m just mad. I just sit there and brush my teeth. That’s what I feel I have to do so y’all won’t say my breath stinks. But I’m just kind of locked in on certain things in certain ways. You gotta earn the right to do certain things. So winners get washed and losers just have to wait a little bit.”
Thankfully for those in attendance at the media opportunity, Brown had finished his punishment time and had showered before appearing to answer questions. With a trip to California this week and a long flight back to Syracuse Saturday night, how badly do Brown’s players want to win so that their head coach doesn’t have to stink up the cabin?
With Brown’s penchant for recruiting and marketing, you have to figure he’s going to look to take advantage of this attention, but the Orange need to follow it up with a win? If so, then maybe Fran can be the next Old Spice man or have DART team up with Dove?
Of course it’s possible Brown used this approach to get his team to get focused after another disappointing loss. I mean do you want to feel responsible for your head coach having to sleep in the guest room because you couldn’t give a bit more effort.
Don’t worry Fran’s main guy Kyle McCord has his back
Kyle McCord on if Fran Brown has seen shower-gate…
“He’s aware that it blew up a little bit…and now every single person in America thinks he’s dirty.”
