After sitting out last summer, Boeheim’s Army will return to The Basketball Tournament in 2025. They will also get the opportunity to host a regional at the SRC Arena from June 18-23. In a new twist this summer, the first regional host to sell 4,000 tickets can earn homecourt advantage through the entire TBT
The 64-team $1 million dollar take all tournament has grown since its inception with many top college programs fielding teams comprised of (mostly) alums from the schools. Boeheim’s Army won the 2021 TBT and has an overall record of 25-8 in their TBT history.
In 2023, Syracuse alums who suited up for Boeheim’s Army were Jimmy Boeheim, Rakeem Christmas, Pascal Chukwu, Chris McCullough, BJ Johnson and Andrew White. The current Syracuse alums playing professionally and not in the NBA this season are: Buddy Boeheim, Jimmy Boeheim, Oshae Brissett, Tyler Ennis, Joe Girard, Quincy Guerrier, Elijah Hughes, BJ Johnson, Judah Mintz, Cole Swider and Symir Torrence.
Will an earlier TBT allow some of these G-League players to participate? With Ryan Blackwell on the Siena staff, who takes over as Head Coach? We’ll keep an eye out for news regarding Boeheim’s Army as we get closer.
Update:
Elijah Hughes is committed and Jim Boeheim is considering coaching
