The Syracuse Orange brought in Eddie Lampkin to give the team a dimension it missed last season. Lampkin was sought after to give a low-post scorer and rebounder and lately he’s been delivering.
Against Notre Dame, Lampkin scored 13 points and 11 grabbed rebounds, giving him his 4th straight double-double. He also chipped in 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks and his presence early in the second half helped change the tone of the game.
Syracuse HC Adrian Autry said the senior center has been stepping up lately
“Eddie, he’s been huge for us,” Autry said. “Fourth (straight) double double…..I knew we had a size advantage so I wanted to go inside and kind of slow the game down because our defense had really picked up. Jyare and Eddie did a really good job of passing or getting to the basket.”
Lampkin is now averaging 10.1 points and a career-best 8.2 rebounds per game for Syracuse. After the game he talked about this being the time of year where everyone has to step up their intensity on both ends of the floor.
The Orange will need Lampkin to deliver again when they head to face the Clemson Tigers and their frontcourt duo of Ian Schieffelin and Viktor Lahkin.
