And another former Orange signs a Summer League deal
Former Syracuse Orange center Jesse Edwards, after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, was picked up on a 2-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Christopher Hall of Sports Illustrated.

The Wolves, who traded out of the second round of the draft, are getting size and defense in Edwards. Standing at 7’ tall with a 7’5’’ wingspan, the Dutch center averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds, and just under 2 blocks per contest in his last season of college basketball.
The 24-year-old Edwards spent four seasons with the Syracuse Orange, playing a key role in both protecting and scoring in the paint. However, following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season, Edwards decided it was time for a change of scenery for his fifth and final year —which was granted due to the COVID lockdown— and took his talents to West Virginia as a graduate student.
“I mostly wanted to have a fresh start and a new challenge,” Edwards said.
It is unlikely that Edwards will see any meaningful NBA minutes this year, as he will be developing his game with the Timberwolves’ G-League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves.
Edwards should join Minnesota’s Summer League squad, which tips off on Friday, July 12th. He’ll join his former Syracuse teammate Joe Girard in Vegas. JG3 signed a deal to play in the Summer League with the Toronto Raptors.
