10 points in one game will do that for you.
When you’re Joey Spallina and you tie your career high for points in a single game, you can expect a little recognition to go along with that.
That happened on Tuesday, when Spallina was named the ACC’s Offensive Player of the Week on the back of his 10-point performance against Vermont, the second 10-point game of his career. Joey had five goals and five assists against the Catamounts, officially having a hand in an incredible 77 percent of SU’s goals (10-of-13) in the game.
This is the second time in as many weeks to begin the season that a Syracuse Orange player has been awarded ACC Offensive Player of the Week after Michael Leo received the honor thanks to his four-goal, five-point game versus Jacksonville to start the season.
While the individuals are getting their recognition, so too is the team as a whole. The Orange retained their spot in the major polls this week, coming in ranked No. 2 behind Notre Dame in both the media poll and the coaches poll, picking up one first-place vote from the coaches.
