The Orange hope to bring home some hardware this Fall
The Syracuse Orange athletics season is in full swing so we are back with these weekly recaps as we look to broaden our coverage of the Olympic sports.
Field Hockey (12-5, 4-4)
The Orange dropped a 1-0 decision to Boston College on Friday and that put Syracuse in the 5th seed for the ACC Championships. They open up against the #4 seed Virginia on Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 on the ACC Network. Virginia won the regular season meeting in a shoot-out.
Women’s Soccer (6-10-2, 0-9-1)
Syracuse dropped their final game 3-1 to Boston College. Erin Flurey scored her 5th goal of the season in the loss. The Orange were out-scored 27-5 in ACC play this season as they haven’t won an ACC game
Volleyball (13-11, 1-11)
Syracuse lost matches at NC State (3-0) and Wake Forest (3-1) this week. The Orange will host #4 Louisville and Notre Dame this weekend.
Cross-Country
Syracuse’s men finished fifth at the ACC Championships on Friday morning. Sam Lawler (10th) and Assaf Harari (13th) led the way. This was Lawler’s second-straight top 10 finish. Wake Forest took the men’s title.
The Orange women finished 8th led by Savannah Roark in 13th and Emma Eastman in 18th. Notre Dame claimed the women’s title and ended NC State’s ACC win streak.
Syracuse is off this week before the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday November 15th.
Ice Hockey (2-9, 0-2)
Syracuse dropped two games (3-2 in overtime and 5-2) at Penn State to open AHA conference play.
The Orange will play a home and home with RIT this week as they look for their first conference win of 24-25.
Tennis
Syracuse competed at the UB Invitational and were led by Nelly Knezkova’s 3-0 singles weekend as they wrapped up fall team play. Serafima Shastova will be competing at the NCAA Singles Championships later this month.
Rowing
Both squads were at Cornell this weekend. The women’s V8 did not compete but Syracuse’s 2V, 3V and 4V boats beat Cornell and Ithaca. The Syracuse men competed against Cornell and Dartmouth and finished 2nd in the V8 in each of the three races, while the 2V and 3V Syracuse boats won two of three.
