
Softball continues strong start in non-conference play
The Syracuse Orange athletics season is in full swing so we are back with these weekly recaps as we look to keep you updated on the Olympic sports.
Ice Hockey (13-21, 11-9)
The Orange won their first semifinal game against Mercyhurst 1-0 behind a 47-save shutout from Allie Kelley. Mercyhurst rallied to even things up with a 4-0 win in Game 2. In the deciding game, Mercyhurst scored three third period goals to take a 5-2 win and advance to the AHA Championship.
Kelley made 110 saves in the series extending her NCAA career saves record. Bryn Saarela finished as Syracuse’s leader in goals (17) and points (29).
Softball (16-3, 0-0)
Syracuse won four of their five games last weekend at the Blue Hen Invitational. The Orange beat Delaware twice, Morgan State once, and split two with Quinnipiac, rallying from a 3-1 deficit in the final inning to win.

The Orange head to Stanford for a three-game series to open ACC play.
Tennis (8-3, 1-3)
Syracuse dropped a 4-3 decision to Miami but bounced back to beat Florida State 4-3 for their first ACC win of the year. The Orange won the doubles spot and then clinched the victory on Nelly Knezkova’s win at #2 singles.
The Orange will travel west to play Stanford and California next weekend.
Track and Field
Syracuse struggled at the ACC Championships as the men finished 16th with 11 points and the women finished the meet without a scorer. The scorers for the Orange men were:
Sam Lawler with a 5th place in the 5000m
Benne Anderson with a 5th place in the mile
Trei Thorogood with a 6th place finish in the 60m dash
Ended ACCs with some more hardware.
