The Syracuse Orange athletics season is in full swing so we are back with these weekly recaps as we look to keep you updated on the Olympic sports.
Ice Hockey (13-21, 11-9)
We recapped Saturday’s win over Robert Morris earlier today. The Orange head to Mercyhurst for a best-of-3 series next weekend.
Softball (12-2, 0-0)
Syracuse won three of their five games this weekend. They dropped both games against #9 Georgia, but picked up wins over Buffalo, Utah Valley and Appalachian State. Three Orange hitters rank in the top 10 in the ACC in batting average: Madelyn Lopez, Angie Ramos and Kelly Breen. Both Julianna Verni and Madison Knight are in the top 10 in era.
The Orange head to Delaware for the Blue Hen Invitational next weekend.
Tennis (7-2, 0-2)
Syracuse lost a pair of matches over the weekend, falling 4-0 to #3 North Carolina and 4-1 to #10 Duke. Despite the loss to the Blue Devils, the Orange scored victories over ranked opponents: Miyuka Kimoto and Nelly Knezkova beat the No. 11 Duke duo of Balus and Coleman in doubles, and Kimoto beat the #8 ranked Balus at #1 singles.

The Orange will host Miami and Florida State next weekend.
Track and Field
Syracuse had a final tune-up before next week’s ACC Indoor Track Championships. Several Orange athletes competed at Cornell over the weekend. Caroline Kirby won the mile with Leah Futey taking 2nd. Running unattached, Rylie Lusk and Justus Holden-Betts were the top two finishers in the 3000m. In the sprints, Olivia Garner (200m), Shayla Ford (400m) and Melissa Saunders (60m hurdles) all took 2nd place in their respective events. For the men, Naseem Smith won the 60m hurdles while competing unattached.
