But as the picture shows, things work both ways
It’s been an interesting week for Syracuse Orange fans as the Trebor Pena situation shocked everyone.
This week’s survey shows that Syracuse fans are losing interest in college sports as a result of NIL and the portal. I wonder what these results would be if the Orange basketball teams had been top-25 caliber like football, but it’s clear that schools should be taking note of the fan response.

That being said, the portal is the system and most of you felt like Fran Brown should be looking for offensive line help right now. Even with a room of inexperienced quarterbacks, you feel Brown has bigger priorities.

We’re including a couple of the national results this week. You can see that it’s not just Orange fans feeling that the current NIL has to be revised. Will anything happen this summer? A lot hinges on the House settlement and the bevy of lawsuits being litigated.

It’s also interesting to see that fans feel more invested in high school recruiting, even though the portal provides more instant impact. This should be good news for Syracuse football and basketball as both have been doing well recruiting high school talent to come to the JMA Dome.
