In Boston the Orange were on a fast BU track with some stellar competition, but with the meet just a couple of weeks after cross-country season ended, the number of Syracuse competitors was small. Savannah Roark’s 15:53 5k was good for 36th place and was the top performance for the women.
For the Syracuse men, we got to see a number of freshman runners who redshirted during cross-country. Ben Gabelman made his debut with an outstanding 5k time of 13:57 which was 104th in the event (yes you read that right). Ignore the place, that’s a strong collegiate opener for the freshman and he’ll be a runner to watch the next four years.
The Orange will be back in action next month when the head to Penn State.
