Syracuse will now face Creighton
The Syracuse Orange (3-3) put together their best offensive game of the season last night as they overwhelmed the Missouri Tigers 82-59 in the opening game of the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Florida.
Four Orange women scored in double-figures led by Georgia Woolley’s 17 points. Kyra Wood (16), Sophie Burrows (15) and Journey Thompson (14) helped give Syracuse a balanced attack. Two separate 9-0 runs in the first half helped Syracuse pull away to a 44-28 halftime lead and then the Orange shot 9-11 from the field in the third quarter to squash any comeback attempt.
The Orange had 26 assists on 34 made field goals. Woolley, Burrows and Olivia Schmitt all contributed 7 assists during the game. Syracuse held a 46-22 advantage in points in the paint and a 40-31 rebounding edge.
